An economic development plan should:
• Outline the economic vision, mission, and goals of a community
• Outline the economic strategies and specific actions that will be taken
• Align with the plans that the city has in the works
• Help residents, businesses, and local governments understand the economic priorities for a community.
Effective economic development plans help communities respond to economic challenges and seize opportunities. They support collaboration and co-ordination between neighboring communities.
Economic development planning starts with a look at your community to answer the following questions:
• Where are we now?
• Where do we want to be?
• Why aren't we there now?
• What needs to be done to get us there?
• Who is going to get us there?
• When is it going to be done?
• How will we know when we get there?
